David Martin and Architectural designer John Williams decided to create a very special building that would be like no other, so when they found the spectacular hill-top position with wonderful views, beside acres of ancient oak woodland they could not believe their luck. 

Over the subsequent 16 years they have constructed almost every part of CRUCKBARN themselves. The oak frame came from 100 trees growing just 100 yards from their site. They used as many local materials as possible, including, stone, reclaimed slates and timber cladding, and when more recently they converted it into a spectacular holiday home, they chose to make as many of the fixtures and fitting themselves including doors, stairs, kitchen and furniture. It was a true labour of love. 

Although it has under-floor heating and hot water supplied by a ground source heat-pump they wanted something to give the room a focus, somewhere that people could gather around and feel cosy. What else would do, but a wood burning stove? Both David and John were already enthusiastic owners of Clearview Stoves so following a visit to Clearview’s beautiful showroom just 10 miles away they chose and installed a Solution 500. 

This truly wonderful holiday home provides a living space in which to relax, play games, chat and simply revel in being alive in such a beautiful location. You can enjoy breakfast with stunning views, absorb the quiet of its hilltop location, roam acres of woods and field, star-gaze at night by the campfire, or cosy up inside around the Clearview Stove.
