How We Make Our Stoves

Admin User - 20 Jan 2020

Since 1987, from our twenty-acre site in the Shropshire hills, we have been designing and manufacturing the very finest wood burning stoves.

From this beautiful location, we control all aspects of production with passion and enthusiasm, from research and development, through to design, manufacture and distribution.

In the most modern of stove production facilities we combine the very latest computer controlled robotic production equipment with traditional hand finishing techniques to produce the best, most efficient and reliable wood burning stoves available. Throughout the manufacturing process every Clearview Stove is thoroughly checked at each stage. At the end of the production line the stove is carefully and securely packaged and then delivered by a fllet of our own dedicated lorries and vans.

We also believe that expert advice is essential when considering the purchase and installation of a stove. We take care to advise you on which model will best suit your needs and its efficient and safe installation. Our product knowledge is unequalled in the industry, our after sales service is second to none, so you can be confident that the Clearview Stove you choose will be the right one, giving you many years of trouble-free pleasure and satisfaction.

We are proud to have grown into Britain’s leading manufacturer of clean burning stoves. There is a simple reason for our success – we love and believe in our stoves and are dedicated to channeling all our passion and energy into making one exceptional product. Clearview Stoves are considered by many to be the greenest stoves on earth.

ENVIRONMENT

It is right for responsible stove manufacturers to question the impact we have on the environment, both in the making of our stoves as well as their use. While stoves will produce small amounts of P.M 2.5's it is by no means to the levels that have been reported in the press. For a more balanced and scientific picture read the attached.

Manufacturers must consider the impact on the environment both of its product but also in the building of it, we call this embodied energy. We go to great lengths to reduce our energy use in the building of our stoves.

Green Manufacturing

  • Almost every past, component and material is purchased from the U.K and sourced locally wherever practical. Most are bought in bulk to reduce wasted lorry space, minimising cost and environmental impact.
  • All Clearview Stoves are built entirely at our Bishops Castle Factory.
  • All Clearview Stoves are built using British Steel.
  • Uniquely, we deliver most Clearview Stoves with our own transport and drivers, enabling us to make the process as efficient and cost effective as possible.
  • Much of our own heating comes from wood, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, both in our showroom and factory.
  • Every month hundreds of tonnes of steel and large quantities of cardboard and plastic are set aside for recycling.
  • We have fitted over 150 solar panels, which in a good year might generate over 150,000 kWh of energy. In some years this covers over 75% of  our total electricty requirements

Green Fuel

  • Wood burnt on a Clearview Stove releases no more carbon than if it was decaying in the forest.
  • Trees produce oxygen and over their lifetime will have absorbed much more carbon than will be given out when it’s burnt.
  • Using wood encourages the sustainable management of our woodlands which, in turn, helps nurture the wildlife that relies on it.
  • Clearview plants thousands of trees a year to help offset those that are used by us and our customers. Prime trees are allowed to flourish as older ones are thinned out during the woodland management process.
  • Locally sourced wood that is air dried and delivered in the immediate area, drastically reduces the energy used in its creation. This is more efficient than relying on palletised kiln dried logs that may have travelled hundreds of miles, using many gallons of fuel before being delivered to your door.
  • Clearview Stoves require little maintenance, most of which can be carried out by the owner. This means no call out charges or service engineers driving around the country increasing this embodied energy. Once installed, a Clearview Stove is truly off grid and will rely on just seasoned wood to provide warmth and energy security.

Care for the environment defines Clearview as well as strongly influencing how we operate.
