Welcome to Dinham House
The beautiful showroom of Clearview Stoves
Nestling under the protection of Ludlow Castle wall,
Dinham House is a delight just waiting to be discovered. It is the
largest Georgian house in Ludlow and enjoys panoramic views across
the River Teme to Whitcliffe beyond.
Built and extended in stages throughout the 18th Century,
Dinham House grew in size and stature as Ludlow transformed itself
into a fashionable social centre, hosting great dinners, balls,
assemblies and race meetings.
At this time the house was the town residence of the
Knight family who also owned Croft Castle and Downton Castle. Lord
Powis lived here and also Lord Clive, once Governor of Madras. But
perhaps the most famous occupant was Lucien Bonaparte, brother of
Napoleon. He lived here as a prisoner on parole for six months in
1811.
Dinham House is now the home of Clearview Stoves and
a wonderful showcase for the very best of traditional English country
style.

Wood burning stoves by Clearview
Stoves
A large part of the house’s undeniable charm comes from the
wood burning stoves that bring the rooms to life with their warm
glow, flickering light and a faint comforting scent. These wonderful
room settings are a showplace for Clearview Stoves, and it’s
hard to imagine a more perfect way to see them at their best.
And, being Dinham House, every detail has been thought about, so
you will find fireguards, fireside sets, log baskets and log stores
to complement the scene.

Historic Ludlow
Few towns are as outstandingly interesting and beautiful as Ludlow.
How many can boast not only a magnificent Medieval castle, but also
a wealth of Tudor timber framed buildings, and fine examples of
Georgian and Regency architecture? Ludlow is steeped in history
and exploring the back lanes and courtyards will reveal unexpected
gems. The castle, once under royal ownership, boasts Edward V, Catherine
of Aragon and Mary Tudor among those who spent time here.
But Ludlow is more than a wonderful snapshot of times
past, it is also a vibrant community, and you can explore antique
and flea markets, art galleries and antiquarian bookshops, play
golf on the race course and enjoy some of the best locally produced
food in the many excellent restaurants. Ludlow hosts a food and
drink festival, and every summer, the castle becomes the setting
for a Shakespearean festival.
